A raised mahogany bench of three sections stands on a dais with nine high-backed leather chairs behind it; every place carries a brass lamp, a microphone, a name plate and a water glass. Twenty-four marble columns with Ionic capitals stand clear of the walls, red velvet drapes hang between them and a carved frieze runs above. The well holds a lectern, two counsel tables with chairs, a clerk's desk, a marshal's desk and a stenographer's desk; a bar rail with a swing gate divides it from the press seats and thirty-two pews.
