DESCRIPTION

Name of the model: Serpenticone Conch OrnamentedSTL ready to printTriangles: 945365Vertices: 604826Information: This model emulates a serpenticonic conch with an ornamented shell surface (ribsand nodes). According to Westermann (1996) Serpenticonic shells are evolute, with much of theumbilicus exposed. This has been shown to generate excessive drag against propulsion (Jacobs1992). The shell form is overall fairly compressed, even if the aperture itself is not compressed. The venter does not produce as much drag, and at larger sizes, less energy would be required forpropulsion because turbulent flow would de-emphasize friction drag along the umbilicus (Jacobs1992).
