US Yorktown Class Aircraft Carrier

US Yorktown Class Aircraft Carrier 3D print model

Description

1/1800th scale Yorktown Class Aircraft Carrier model. Certain elements not to scale.

The Yorktown class consisted of three ships built for the US Navy shortly before WWII. They, along with the Lexington class, formed the backbone of the US Navy fleet during the early years of the war. Both the Yorktown and the Hornet were lost while the Enterprise became the most decorated ship of the US Navy of the war. Unfortunately, efforts to save the Enterprise as a museum ship failed, and she was scrapped in 1960.

This is part of my collection of WWII warships, keep an eye out for more to come. If you have a specific request, message me and I'll bump it up my list.

Tested with PLA at .1mm layer height with .4mm nozzle.

Update 26 March 19: Fixed architecture errors causing issues with some slicers. Update 16 Oct 19: Added boats. Ship was slightly larger than 1/1800 scale; resized to fix.

Hi, I bought the model and it seems that the superstructure has a lot of errors on slic3r as well.

I've attempted to print a number of models of the Enterprise Carrier (CV-6, a Yorktown Class) before and they've never come out right. The big difference here is that certain elements that would be too thin, or too small to print or to show up have been edited and enlarged to make printability super easy. Everything turned out great. I didn't use supports and the overhang on the flight deck was fine (the underside of the overhand looks a little stringy, but the top printed just great).
