DESCRIPTION

The Brandenburg-class is a class of frigates built by Germany for the German Navy. Overall four units were built: Brandenburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Bayern and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. All ships were laid down and launched in the late 1990s, being in service since. Their capabilities range from ASW to Air Defence and surface-to-surface warfare. With a small suite of VLS, Harpoon missiles and Mk49 RAM, they can keep up with more modern units, despite their age. However, the newer Sachsen class outclasses the ships in nearly every aspect. Due to the relatively high age of the class, several modernizations are planned.

Brandenburg hasnt seen active combat yet and was only on several exercises and humanitarian missions. As with most modern warships, live combat has been rare. The most notable events of the class were a collision with a freighter in the Kiel canal, in which Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was damaged in 2015. The longest mission so far has been given to Bayern, in which the ship was deployed to Japan for several exercises. The ship was out of german waters for half a year, returning home in February of 2022. As of January 2023, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has been sent out on a NATO exercise to strenghten the northern atlantic defence.

With the current crisis in Europe and the advancing technology, it is planned to replace the radar, fire control systems and weaponry onboard all four units in the coming years. Eventually they will be replaced by the F126 class in the late 2020s and early 2030s.

Note: This model is recommended to be used in the 1/2000 scale. The models itself isnt scaled, the scale table is down below.

1/4000: 3,5cm or 1.38in

1/3000: 4,6cm or 1.81in

1/2000: 6,9cm or 2.739in

1/1000: 13,9cm or 5.47in

For self calculation: The Brandenburg is roughly 139m or 456ft long.

The model is intended to be used with little supports as possible, yet some are recommended below the bridge wings and overhangs, as well as the barrel. I recommend using a resin printer for this. Up and Downsclaling might be possible, yet I dont know to what extend.

Edit V1.1: Added missing portside Bridge windows
