DPRK Amnok - Model for small scale printing 3D print model

Description

The Amnok-class of corvette is the most modern ship of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). It is named after the river forming the border between North Korea and China. First glances of the so called Project 661 were made in 2011, when construction of the ship begun. It was only in 2016 when the hulk was identified as a warship, with a second hull following some time later. Currently only one ship of the class is in active service, being the most modern and capable warships the country has. Despite the serious problems North Korea is facing economically, the ship has been equipped with an array of different systems, though the majority are outdated already. The ship supposedly entered service in August of 2023, though no exact numbers have been named yet.

Displacing roughly 2.000 tons the class is neatly located between the larger Russian Gremyashchiy-class and the smaller Chinese Type 056-class. It is likely that these two nations provided the majority of the systems installed onboard, be it from already decommissioned weapons. The largest weapon onboard is likely a 100mm Type 79 gun in a open back modern housing, meaning a system from the second world war which was taken from scrapped soviet vessels. It is being complemented by a pair of AK-230s anti-air guns, having been produced by the soviet union in the 1960s before being deemed obsulete. For ASW four fixed RBU-1200s are mounted, having been designed in the 1950s as well. As air defence and short range missile system six 9K39 Igla is mounted in a cabinet, being hotswappable. This system is one of the most modern ones onboard, though it has been designed as a shoulder-launcher system now installed in a cabinet on the deck. The only modern and threatening system installed are the eight launchers capable of carrying the Hwasal-2 long range nuclear capable cruise missile. This system alone poses a large threat to the neighbouring countries like South Korea and Japan and presents a sudden jump in the capabilities of the North Korean Navy.

Note: This model is recommended to be used in the 1/2000 scale. The models itself isnt scaled, the scale table is down below. As the lenght of the ship is not known, I have simply taken the length of the K-130 class of corvette, as I think that these two classes should be almost identical in length.

1/4000: 2,2cm or 0.86in

1/3000: 2,9cm or 1.14in

1/2000: 4,45cm or 1.75in

1/1000: 8,9cm or 3.5in

For self calculation: The Amnok-class is likely 89m or 292ft long.

The model is intended to be used with little supports as possible, yet some are recommended below the barrel of the main gun and antennas on the two masts. I recommend using a resin printer for this. Up and Downsclaling might be possible, yet I dont know to what extend.

If you face issues with the model, have questions or want to propose some changes, please reach out to me, I am always happy to help. I am also open for suggetions for new ships which I havent done yet, as I am looking to expand my catalogue of ships.
