Blandina Gobjilă, known as “Mother Blondina”, remained in the hearts of those who knew her as a modern-day witness of Christ, a living example of kindness, faith and sacrifice.

Born in Bessarabia on February 24, 1906, by profession a teacher, Mother Blandină was, for 15 years, deported to Siberia, where she experienced the harsh life of prisons and camps. She spent the last part of her life serving Saint Parascheva and her peers at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași. She passed away on May 24, 1971.
