Project Seawolf: 1/72 Scale Nuclear Attack Submarine (SSN-21)Bring the engineering of the world’s most advanced submarine to your own workshop with this detailed 3D design of the US Navy’s Seawolf-class. With a length of approximately 1.5 meters at 1/72 scale.
Model Features:Massive Dimensions: A total length of approximately 150 cm (59 inches).
Optimized Segmentation: The hull is divided into approximately 40 individual sections. This ensures a manageable printing process on standard printers and results in a very strong construction after assembly.
Authentic Propulsion: Features a highly accurate shrouded pump-jet propulsor, including an internal screw. While 3D-printable files for the screw are included, we recommend a brass version for those actually taking it into the water.
Functional Display: Includes a robust display stand. A clever detail: the base features an integrated storage compartment for tools, electronics, or spare parts.
R/C Capabilities (Radio Control Ready):This model is not just for the display case; it is technically prepared for actual sailing and diving:
Spacious Interior: The hull provides ample room to accommodate a 110mm WTC (Watertight Cylinder).
Flexible Build: Specific mounting files for a 110mm WTC system are available separately on my profile. This allows you to choose between a static display model or a functional R/C submarine.
What’s in the Download? The complete set of 40 high-resolution STL files (hull and control surfaces).
STL files for the modular display stand with a handy storage drawer.
Detailed sail (conning tower) components, including periscopes, radar, and communication masts.
Background Information:The Seawolf-class (SSN-21 through SSN-23) was developed at the end of the Cold War with one goal: absolute underwater dominance. To this day, they remain the quietest and fastest attack submarines in the US fleet.
Optional: For a functional dive system (vented ballast tank/pump system), you can find the matching 110mm WTC files here: https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/robotics/wtc110mm-for-rc-submarine-model
Please note: The images shown are of the 1/144 scale version; this package concerns the larger 1/72 scale. Digital files are for personal use only.
No manual included
3D Printing Settings & AdviceMinimum Print Bed: 254 x 254 x 254 mm (e.g., Bambu Lab P1 series).
Filament: We recommend ABS-GF (glass-fiber reinforced) or another heat-resistant and impact-resistant filament for the hull.
Detail Work: For the smallest components (periscopes/masts), a Resin printer will provide the sharpest results.
