The AMX 40 (1940) was an experimental French cavalry tank project developed by AMX shortly before the Fall of France. Presented in March 1940, it was intended as a potential successor to the Somua S35/S40, combining the mobility of British Christie-based cruiser tanks with French expertise in cast armor construction. Although the project never progressed beyond the drawing board, it remains one of the most distinctive French tank designs of World War II.

Weighing approximately 16 tonnes, the AMX 40 featured a cast hull protected by up to 60 mm of sloped armor, a 47 mm SA 35 gun mounted in a two-man turret, and an innovative Christie-inspired suspension designed for high mobility. Several advanced features were also proposed, including a continuously variable transmission and a retractable anti-aircraft machine gun mounted behind the turret.

Today, the AMX 40 is best known thanks to its appearance in World of Tanks, although the in-game vehicle includes several fictional modifications not present on the original design. In reality, the historical project existed only on paper, with the original blueprints being the only surviving evidence of this fascinating French tank.

This 3D model was designed for printing and use at a 1:100 scale, but can easily be enlarged for other scales or for collecting, diorama, or play purposes. Models are for both FDM and SLA.
