DESCRIPTION

This model is the result of an ambitious project originally created for the YouTube creator Primal Space.

The model features a fully modeled exterior and the pressurized interior of the NASA & Grumman Apollo Lunar Module used during the Moon landings between 1969–1972.This specific model represents the Block II variant of the LM used during the Apollo 11–14 H-missions.A large amount of NASA documentation was used to make the model as accurate as possible, including mission photographs, construction photographs, films, blueprints, operator handbooks, and astronaut training manuals.

Every button, switch, and indicator needle inside the cockpit is rigged with bone constraints. The Blender file includes an animated version that helps demonstrate many of the model’s interactive features. The linked videos will also help explain the controls and armatures used throughout the cockpit.

The native file for this model was created in Blender, so Blender is highly recommended for the best experience. Exported formats lack many of the features available in the native file, including bone constraints, animations, collections, and the original file hierarchy. However, the baked textures still work well in exported formats.

The texture resolutions vary throughout the model. Less important parts use 1K textures, while highly detailed components such as the instrument panels use 8K textures. There are only two 8K PBR texture sets included in the project.

Another important thing you probably already guessed is that this model was not designed as a game asset. The model detail, texture resolution, and texture count are not optimized for real-time game use. It may still work for simulator projects, but additional optimization work would be required to make the model fully game ready.

I'll also include the Lunar terrain Blender scene that was used to create the rendered images.

Technical Information: Fully UV unwrapped, non-overlapping UVs, high resolution baked textures, fully modeled interior and exterior, rigged cockpit controls and indicators (Blender files), multiple export formats included.
