EVERYPlant Suckows Horsetail Tree 04 --16 Models-- 3D model

Name: Suckow's Horsetail Tree

Scientific: Calamites suckowii

This Variation: 4 of 12

Habitat: Extinct tree-sized plant from the Carboniferous to the early Permian Period (about 360 to 250 million years ago). It appears to have preferred sandy riverbanks and floodplains. It appeared mainly as part of the sub-story of prehistoric forests.

Range: Fossils have been found virtually the world over suggesting the plant had a global range.

Notes: An extinct, tree-sized plants that lived during the Carboniferous and early Permian periods (about 360 to 250 million years ago) to which the modern horsetails (genus Equisetum) are closely related. Unlike their herbaceous modern counterparts, these plants were medium-sized trees which grew to heights of more than 10 meters. Although it's stem was woody, it was nonetheless a delicate plant that grew in the sub-story of prehistoric forests. Several sub-genera of Calamites existed, this species fell into the category Stylocalamites and were distinct from other Calamites in that their terrestrial parts rarely branched and had only limited foliage. It featured a prominent strobilus missing in other sub-genera of Calamites, but is a feature found in modern horsetails. These plants grew from an underground connected network of rhizomes as well as from seeds.

Included in this Package: 16 models in total

  1. Standard -- 72,527 polygons -- 7.5m tall. A fully mature plant in relative health. Useable in most scenes and applications.
  2. Distressed -- 67,655 polygons -- 7.47m tall. Showing an increased level of foliage damage and disease, as well as missing and broken foliage.
  3. Unhealthy -- 51,541 polygons -- 7.17m tall. In a relatively poor state with much of its foliage missing or diseased.
  4. Dying -- 47,843 polygons -- 6.29m tall. Plant is just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  5. Dead -- 36,168 polygons -- 5.07m tall. Showing only dead foliage. Stems may be broken and missing.
  6. Ancient -- 81,161 polygons -- 8.96m tall. Plant is at it's full growth height.
  7. Young Mature -- 53,036 polygons -- 5.32m tall. Plant is fully mature, but not fully grown.
  8. Young -- 23,735 polygons -- 3m tall. Young plant still growing.
  9. Immature -- 10,388 polygons -- 1.09m tall. Plant has not yet reached it's mature aspect. Strobili are generally missing, or in an early development stage.
  10. Seedling -- 8,677 polygons -- 59.18cm tall. Very young plant just forming just emerging from underground rhysomes.
  11. Single Plant -- 16,521 polygons -- 7.47m tall. Only one plant has been generated.
  12. Less Plants -- 46,003 polygons -- 7.5m tall. There are fewer plants in this cluster.
  13. More Plants -- 124,911 polygons -- 7.5m tall. There is a larger number of plants in this cluster.
  14. Smaller Cluster -- 72,527 polygons --7.5m tall. The cluster is smaller and the plants more densely packed together.
  15. Larger Cluster -- 72,527 polygons -- 7.5m tall. The cluster is larger and the plants are further spread out.
  16. Simplified -- 29,577 polygons -- 7.5m tall. Same as the Standard model but finer details have been omitted. Much lower poly count. Intended for mid or distant renders.

Re-meshing available upon request, eg adaptive mesh for lower poly count (this is the default setting and is as supplied), uniform mesh for easier editing, strict quads, tris, mixed, poly increase or decrease, etc. No charge to existing customers of the product.

Many other modifications to models also available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included in this pack are mainly 4k (4096x4096) to cater for detailed renders, this is the default map size and is included in each of the file format download files, no need for seperate downloads. However these may be slow to load or render on some system and may not be necessary in all situations. To allow for this, medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k textures are also available and may be downloaded alongside the various model formats. Different texture sizes can simply be swapped in or out by copying the Maps sub-folder; no need to manipulate the materials in your editor. Please use whichever best suits your system and needs.

EVERYPlant has a mission ... which is to model every plant species in the world (plus some extinct, fantasy and sci-fi variations as well)! Okay, maybe not every plant, but at least the identifiably different species which have at least a common name! Want to keep track on how that's going? You can find the details at our facebook page.
