The IS-2 (Iosif Stalin 2) was a Soviet heavy tank developed during the later stages of the Second World War. Introduced in 1944 as an improvement over the IS-1, it was designed to provide the Red Army with a breakthrough vehicle capable of defeating German heavy armor and destroying fortified positions. Built on the IS series chassis and powered by the reliable V-2 diesel engine, the IS-2 combined thick armor with the devastating 122 mm D-25T gun, a weapon capable of knocking out Panthers and Tigers at combat ranges while also delivering powerful high explosive fire against infantry and bunkers. The IS-2 saw extensive combat in the final offensives of the Eastern Front, including the Vistula–Oder operation and the Battle of Berlin, and it remained in service for decades after the war in Soviet and allied armies.
This model is a realistic and accurate version of the IS-2 design, based in original Soviet technical drawings, museum photographs and 3D scans. It is suitable for rendering, simulations, videogames, and 3D printing.
