Rating the prices

Discussion started by hend-z

Hey guys and girls!

Wouldn't it be fun and useful to be able to rate the prices, like is the model too low, low, ok, high or too high (or something like that)

I think it may help artists to set the prices, and it may also help customers to know what the community think of the price.

What do you guys think ?

Considering the fact that a lot of people here already tend to underprice heavily their products encouraging customers to ask for way too low prices most of the time, I think it would have for result to get the prices even lower and lower, and give CGT a reputation of cheap selling place : it wouldn't compete against Turbosquid anymore but would become some sort of generalist renderosity (which it already is to a certain extent). I don't think sellers nor even CGT has a whole would benefit from this, thus letting Turbosquid almost alone in the high end market.
Because if you open price rating to customers, especially newcomers in the 3D area, they will most certainly think that everything is too expensive. Just look at the job offers : how often guys are asking for complicated work for 10 bucks or less ?

It would be nice if at least likeing models would work. My likes disappear constantly.

Good idea... I'm getting ticked about the royalty drop though... If I go get a job right now, I make only $0.60 on the DOLLAR! WTHeck?! What is this? Turbo Squid?!?! CG Trader needs to up their game if they're gonna only give us 60%, because I don't/can't sell enough on here to make it worth it... They're almost making more off of my work than I am...

Alpha3d, I don't get your point.
The cases where you just get 60% of the price might be when there is a VAT of around 20% applied for EU customers (you can verify on your sales list).
If so, these 20% don't go to CGTrader but to the EU countries. So don't blame them for respecting the law !
You should be glad that CGTrader takes care of this for you, otherwise, you would have to identify from which EU country your product was bought, and you would have to repay the VAT manually, which would be a real pain. Of course, you could choose to ignore this VAT, but that would be illegal - with the possible consequences.
Just because of the royalty rate, this year, I already made more money here than on Turbosquid, despite of a higher number of sales there, and I don't have to care about tax issues : believe me, on CGTrader, you're not ripped off by the team, it's even the exact contrary.

Well, in my opinion the customers ratings are enough. On Turbo-squid these things have created scandals, there are abuses of ratings ( example 5 stars x 25 !!) and ratings attacks ( 1 star). Two years ago TurboSquid said they will abolish the ratings given by artists (friends ratings !! :)), but it's sad the scandals continue on TS.
GGTrader policy is better than TurboSquid !
