Selling same models to maximize reputation

Discussion started by Blender-Arcturus

I've came across a seller who is selling soccer uniforms. Their profile was full of soccer uniforms of various clubs. It may seem normal but if you think about it you will realise that they are selling the same model by changing materials and textures. I think this is such a perfect way to gain reputation, anyone can do the same to their models with almost 0 effort. Only problem is this : it would make my profile full of the same product kinda like spamming products. I think this wouldn't be good but I wonder what do you think ?

Hi there,

What is the benefit of reputation increased by posting trash items? You will not receive good income even if you upload tens of thousands of models using this method.
In my opinion, uploading hundreds or thousands of the same models with different textures is a very bad thing for both the seller and the buyers, and for the marketplace in general.

Regards.

Spam always happens in all markets unfortunately and its not always about reputation points (however is a side affect on CGT). Its usually about drowning out the competition in that search result and/or taking advantage of new 3D artists who don't know how to use basic functions like color correction/hue adjustments. It also has an affect on the search algorithm in some way or another, its a bit of an anomaly but from my own experience I've noticed the more often I'm uploading models the more often I'm selling, just my observation.

I don't know if its against the rules however I agree its not good for buyers or sellers so hoping this becomes something that can be flagged in future since it does happen quite a lot and is really arrogant behavior.

I think you may do that you want. Support don’t delete that models.

Yes, as said above, you can indeed do this, the models will not be deleted. But I would still strongly recommend betting on quality, not quantity. There are sellers who have less than 50 models and the reputation is very high. What I mean is that to get a good reputation here you do not need to wait for many years, everything can be obtained pretty fast with the right approach.

Well summarized by 3DCargo. Here's fresh example of another spam seller: https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models?author=NftModels7 I think it's quite obvious that 99% of those models will never be sold, but they still do harm to marketplace by clogging search results and pushing to obscurity older models that are much worthier to be discovered than this cloned shit.

Thanks for showing us an example. I've realised how bad this is.
