Selling one model to multiple buyers?

Discussion started by samwilbur

Hiya,

So I've been 3D modelling for about 4 years now and finally decided it would be a good idea to start selling some of my art online. However I am a little confused about what goes on with all the copyright laws and what not.
So sorry if I make no sense or if it's a silly question, but I just want to understand this a bit better.

Say I put a 3D model up for sale, can be purchased by multiple people/companies? or just one individual sale with all the licensing rights to that model?

If multiple people do buy it, (theoretically) and someone likes it enough that they implement it in a game or film that becomes popular, what then happens to the other people who also bought it? can they continue using it in their own productions?

Or can the models only be used in other media types like tutorials, news stories, or personal non-profit projects?

I am more than happy to sell as many times as possible, I am just curious to know what happens to the models and licenses/copyrights after it's been sold, is that all just out of my control by that stage?

Thanks,
Samuel. W.
