I made a scene using paid models

Discussion started by BeehiveStudio

I want to start selling full Interior/Exterior 3D scenes, problem is sometimes I would use models from various websites (3dsky etc..). Can I still sell the scene? Or do the pro models inside interfere with copyright laws?

Thanks in advance.

I see you have already a free model/scene online.
The rule as Lemonade CG and Achipps have stated do not only apply to commercial models that make you money, but also apply to models you upload for free. if your "Chair Showroom Interior Scene" contains models made by other creators and if you do not have their permission, it technically goes against the rules of the website.

If that model contains free models made by others, i personally would say it might be safer to take it of
After all, it would be a shame to risk your account getting banned for a free scene.

If you want to sell anything, it helps to not need anyone permission, so you create everything, like the shape, design, and the textures and maps.
The maps can encounter scale problems, to it is a good idea to get started with making a copy of things around you in 3D. This gives you an example of how it should look. and once you can copy anything you see, then you can create anything. Then you need for anything can be met with making anything you need.

When you can do that then there is nobody that can say anything about the scenes you create, like say that is my chair, or that was my texture or image. It is a better feeling to just show what you can do, and filling a scene with things you create is more satisfying.

It would be a shame to have something taken down because of a dispute from someone shows they created that model you are using. It is better for nobody to notice your scene as anything special than cause others to react and make a big deal out of you using their stuff. Artist seem to do that a lot, while good artist would do it quietly and not attract a lot of attention that can make you look bad.

If you want to be selling 3d scenes, then every single asset in it has to be either your own creation, or you you have to have permission to resell from its author. That includes textures too.

So what are you waiting for? Until someone will report your scene and risk that your account will be suspended? Go to your products management page and remove everything that's against the rules of the site. Trying to test the limits of what's allowed by uploading content that you have no rights to distribute, is risky strategy.
