A few questions about selling models

Discussion started by OxS49

Hi,

Lately, I've been wondering about my model pricing and selling unfinished models (80-90% complete). And now I started wondering about special orders. So the questions goes like this:
1. After setting specific price for models, can I later raise the price?
2. Can I sell a model of a trademarked/copyright protected car with a bodykit that is designed by me?
3. I have few almost finished models, but I don't have motivation or time to finish them. I would like to upload them for sale, someone might need them. How should I price them, or should I even upload them?
4. From time to time I receive requests where I'm asked to do some changes to the models. I don't see a problem to help, but when I have to alter several models in a specific way for one buyer, should I ask for more money or is this just a part of the "costumer is always right policy"? :D

Thank you for your time

Have a nice day!

#1. of course can adjust the price on your models at any time and looking at your models, you should definitely do so. Setting $10 price for detailed and well done car model is a crime.
#2. if 3d model is entirely made by you, then yes, you can sell it, but you have to sell it under editorial license if at least small part of it depicts branded/copyrighted thing.
#3. it's up to you, but i wouldn't bother. No serious customer will ever look at unfinished model and you will only be targetting occasional hobbyists. Although judging by your models' prices, you're not aiming anywhere higher.
#4. again, it's up to you, but if customer not asking to fix something that is broken, or not working how it should and instead requests to add additional details to the model, or modify it in some way, then you don't have an obligation to comply to his request and if you will, then you should charge for your services. Customer is right only when he's right.
