Does any designer know about submarines?

Discussion started by subnovelist

I had a couple of designers say they knew about submarines. I supplied pictures, drawings, and even blueprints. Results and the time to get it somewhere looking like the boats I need have been a struggle, and the outcome is not so hot. I am desperate to find that designer who can 1. Get the details I need on the model. 2. Create a model that is like the actual submarine. 3. Provide an STL file that I can scale depending on my needs. 4. Have a clue as to actual submarines—someone who served on one designed many or have seen one at a museum. The possibilities for this are very profitable for the designer who can quickly get me what I need—needing all flavors of the GUPPY series of diesel boats, including the various sails. USS BONEFISH, USS TROUT, USS SEAWOLF SSN 575 early and late versions, SSBN 616 and 640 class. Please if you don't know submarines, don't waste both of our time.

Not sure why designer / modeler needs to know much about submarines. Skilled modeler just needs blueprints and probably some photos of the details. During the process of modeling, a client can warn designer about some detail and it will be fixed.
I have one sub among my models (USS Perch). It's not detailed but it has a shape based on blueprints. Some day I might add some more details if I'll have more time and interest to do it.
Be careful with scaling for 3D printing (point 3.). Submarines have some thin parts (like fence) and the model should be adjusted if you want to scale it and print it in some small size.

Humm Case in Point. Is your Perch SS-176 (Porpoise Class), SS-313 (Balao Class,) or SSP-313 Transport Submarine, or APSS- 313 Recon configured, LPSS-313, or IXSS-313?

I used blueprints from SS-313 Balao but I also used reference photos from APSS-313 model. This is why it has tank but no "bulge" on the body. It is more interpretation than precise model of specific type.

"Does any designer know about submarines?"
Yes, it´s already proven that main stream media uses extended submarine stories for government PSYOPs.
