Looking for artists who own their own 3D printer

Discussion started by miaomiao3d

I am looking to start a special project but I need to find at least one artist who has their own 3D printer.

I have a Zortrax M200 and Rostock Max V2. What kind of project is it?

Hmmm very cool idea but it looks like a tough print - a thin shell. That kind of shapes are prone to warping. I can give it a shot but my advice would be to send it to a professional 3d printing company. It will guarantee that all the dimensions will be kept and no deformation will occur (which I understand is essential here).

Yes I wanted to try printing it at a company but I am still waiting for them to get back to me....

I have tried multiple comps but they always seem so busy with really slow turn around times. I am still waiting on a quote.

If you want to give it a shot that would be awesome! I mean even if it warps a little it is not really that much of a biggy because I took that into account with the size, I made it a little wider then the perfect fit.

Do you think I should have made it in small pieces and then glue them together later? I was thinking that if printed as one piece it would be less work for customers to deal with.

I have made some of these by hand in wood or hand 3D printed them using plastic but the final result is not as good because of the equipment I used. I was just trying to prove I could make these.

Warping is not really about shrinking the model. It might create an U-shape, which means that the "bumper" ends may go a little up. But maybe it will go fine :)
Maybe slicing the model in the middle and printing it in two parts might be an answer, but glueing such thin parts is always problematic and they tend to brake... Well, we will find out :D
