When we launched CGTrader Essentials, the goal was simple: make it faster and more affordable to find the 3D assets you need every day.

With a flat monthly subscription, you can try different ideas, fill out a scene, and experiment without paying for every model separately.

Now, CGTrader Premium takes that idea further.

It gives you access to a much larger library, including more advanced assets built for animation, games, VFX, client work, and other demanding projects.

And just like Essentials, every model included in Premium is royalty-free and licensed for commercial use. You can use your downloads in client projects, games, visualizations, product renders, and other commercial work without worrying about additional usage fees as your project grows.

What is CGTrader Premium?

Premium gives you access to the full 1.7 million-model subscription library—and counting.

That includes everything available in Essentials, plus the Premium catalog. You don't lose access to the everyday assets you already use. You simply get more to choose from.

Essentials is built for everyday 3D needs. Think furniture, vehicles, props, characters, plants, environment pieces, and other assets you can use to quickly build out a scene.

Premium adds more advanced assets for the parts of your project that need extra detail or functionality.

Depending on the model, that can include:

• Rigged characters ready to pose or animate
• Unreal Engine projects with features already set up
• Source sculpts for further editing
• Modular parts you can customise or swap
• Native files for Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, and other applications
• Detailed models designed to hold up in close-up shots

Not every Premium model includes every feature. The difference is that Premium gives you access to more assets with this level of production depth.

Both plans come with the same straightforward licensing: royalty-free and cleared for commercial use.

The easiest way to see the difference is with real examples from the CGTrader library.

Example 1: Two Spartans

On Essentials, Spartan Warrior by 3DMAGIC24 is a rigged, game-ready character with PBR textures. It comes in BLEND, FBX, OBJ, GLTF, and STL formats, with a bonus body movement animation.

It is a strong choice when you need a ready-made character for a scene, prototype, background, or previz.

On Premium, Spartan Hoplite by RyanReos comes with a much larger production package, including:

• A UE4 project with a playable blueprint and cloth physics
• A rigged Blender file
• 3ds Max and Maya scenes with UE4 skeleton setups
• ZBrush source sculpts for the character and weapon
• A Marmoset scene with materials and lighting
• 2K and 4K PBR textures
• Modular armor pieces that can be removed or swapped

The difference isn't simply visual quality. The Premium asset gives you more to work with after you download it. You can customize it, animate it, move it between applications, and integrate it into a larger production pipeline.

Example 2: Two Dalmatians

The Dalmatian example shows why Premium doesn't simply mean “more polygons.”

On Essentials, DALMATIAN dog by alenfsl has 58,526 polygons, 4K textures, and files for Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush, and several other formats. It is a detailed model designed for static use.

On Premium, Dalmatian Rig by Rozy1418 has just 8,525 polygons.

But it is also fully rigged and designed to be posed and animated. Its geometry is separated for easier editing, its materials are editable, and it comes with native Maya, 3ds Max, and Blender scenes.

So although the Premium model has fewer polygons, it offers more functionality for animation and production.

Premium isn't about bigger files. It's about having the right asset for the job.

Who is Premium for?

Premium is built for creators who need more than a model they can simply place in a scene.

It is especially useful for:
