Command: Commander of the Afrika Korp and Army Group B

After the German defeat in North Africa, Rommel, returned to Europe, and took on new defensive commands as Germany's military fortunes declined.

Departure from North Africa March 1943:

Rommel permanently departed North Africa for health reasons after his exhausted and undersupplied forces were caught between advancing British and American armies.

Recall:Was ordered him back to Europe before the final Axis surrender in Tunisia in May 1943.

New Commands in Europe Recovery and Brief Duties:After a period of medical recovery, Rommel served briefly in southern Europe, overseeing aspects of Italian defense following Italy's wobble and exit from the Axis alliance.

Assignment: In November/December 1943,Was placed Rommel in command of Army Group B in Northern France.

Atlantic Wall:He was tasked with inspecting and rapidly upgrading the Atlantic Wall fortifications along the French coast to prepare for the anticipated Allied cross-channel invasion.

Committed suicide in 1944 after being identified in the plot to overthrown the German regime.
