US Aircraft Carrier Wasp

US Aircraft Carrier Wasp 3D print model

Description

1/1800th scale Wasp Aircraft Carrier model. Certain elements not to scale.

The USS Wasp was an aircraft carrier built for the US Navy. It was a smaller derivation of the preceeding Yorktown-class, designed to fit the remaining tonnage allowed by the Washington Naval Treaty. It's smaller size caused it to be weaker and was originally placed in the Atlantic fleet until she was used to cover for losses incurred in the battle of the Coral Sea. She was hit by a Japanese submarine while supporting the invasion of Guadalcanal and scuttled when her damage control teams were unable to keep up with the flooding.

This model is designed and tested at 1/1800th scale, but up-scaling and down-scaling are possible. Since the model is optimized for 1/1800th scale, it is not ideal to print larger versions due to a lack of detail. The gun barrels and mast have been enlarged.

This is part of my collection of WWII warships, keep an eye out for more to come. If you have a specific request, message me and I'll bump it up my list.

Update 28 Aug 19: Added boats.

Tested with PLA at .08mm layer height with .4mm nozzle.
