This Split Fairing is designed to fit directly on to my existing Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy model.It is a really nice addition to complete the Falcon 9 or Heavy models, and adds much more detail and functionality to the rocket with a simple and fun solution to open and lock the fairing closed for display and instructional purposes.

Over a period of a month, I increased the detail substantially and wittled the mechanical design part of it down from 11 parts to just 5, creating the most practical, functional and simple design I could.The lever to release the two fairings is only sprung when it is turned, so it will not warp or distort over time.There are two different latch release options. There is an option to have a lever on the outside, or on the inside by using a string that runs down the centre and out the centre thruster hole.I also supply an additional gear to drive the gears with a servo internally for electronics enthusiasts.The model can be assembled very quickly and is tested to ensure successful prints.As usual, I design my models to print without supports and in most cases, with no infil.I printed this with two perimeter passes, no infil and 0.2mm layer height.
