Historical Note: The Battleship Cabral was a warship that served the Brazilian Imperial Navy from 1866 to 1882. He participated in the Paraguayan War, also known as the Triple Alliance War. The Cabral Class also had a brother ship the battleship Colombo. It was built at the J. and G. Rennie shipyard in Greenwich, UK, being launched to the sea in the year 1865.

The battleship Cabral arrived in Brazil in 1866 and was incorporated in the same year. The following year he participated in the actions in the Curupaiti Fort and the Humaitá Passage. On March 2, 1868 he repelled a Paraguayan attempt to approach. In the same year he was involved in the bombing of Humaitá, in the passage of the Timbó and in the passage of Angostura. It remained in the active until the year of 1882.
