Description
3D printable HO scale (1:87) shipping containers for model railways and dioramas: five ISO sizes, 10 ft, 20 ft, 40 ft, 40 ft high cube and 45 ft high cube. I built them from the real ISO dimensions, so they match the size of your HO wagons and trucks.
DETAILS
Corrugated side walls, end wall and roof
Corner castings with their openings
Double doors at the back with the vertical locking bars, handles and hinges
Fork pockets on the 20 ft, as on real containers; flat bottom on all sizes for easy printing
No brand, owner code or logo, so you can paint and letter them your way
SIZES IN HO (L x W x H)
10 ft: 34.4 x 28.0 x 29.8 mm
20 ft: 69.6 x 28.0 x 29.8 mm
40 ft: 140.1 x 28.0 x 29.8 mm
40 ft high cube: 140.1 x 28.0 x 33.3 mm
45 ft high cube: 157.7 x 28.0 x 33.3 mm
FILES
Each size as STL, 3MF (print settings saved inside) and STEP, plus a README with all print settings: 15 model files in one ZIP.
PRINTING
No supports needed. Make sure supports are switched OFF in your slicer before slicing (some slicers and profiles turn them on automatically). All five fit a 180 mm print bed. Print settings, print times and resin details are listed below and in the README inside the ZIP.
OTHER VARIANTS (same design)
N scale pack (1:160)
OO scale pack (1:76.2)
O scale pack (1:48)
All scales pack: all 7 scales, including TT 1:120, S 1:64 and 1:50
LICENSE
Commercial use allowed: you may sell the printed models.
Print as many physical copies as you like.
Do not sell, share or redistribute the digital files (STL, 3MF, STEP), changed or unchanged.

PRINT SETTINGS (FDM)
Supports: OFF, none needed (no overhang steeper than 45 degrees)
Make sure supports are switched OFF in your slicer before slicing (some slicers and profiles turn them on automatically). The 3MF already opens with supports off.
Orientation: as in the file, standing on its floor, roof up. No brim or raft needed (flat bottom).
Layer height: 0.12 mm recommended (best detail); 0.20 mm also works (faster, coarser look)
Nozzle 0.4 mm, first layer 0.2 mm
Walls 2-3, infill 15-20 %
Material: PLA recommended; PETG also works
PRINT TIME AND FILAMENT (FDM)
10 ft: bed 180 mm, about 1 h 05 min at 0.12 mm or 45 min at 0.20 mm, 10.1 g
20 ft: bed 180 mm, about 1 h 55 min at 0.12 mm or 1 h 20 min at 0.20 mm, 19.1 g
40 ft: bed 180 mm, about 3 h 30 min at 0.12 mm or 2 h 25 min at 0.20 mm, 36.9 g
40 ft high cube: bed 180 mm, about 3 h 50 min at 0.12 mm or 2 h 35 min at 0.20 mm, 40.5 g
45 ft high cube: bed 180 mm, about 4 h 20 min at 0.12 mm or 2 h 55 min at 0.20 mm, 45.6 g
Approximate, on a modern printer (Prusa CORE One, PLA, 2 walls, 15 % infill); filament at 0.12 mm. Older or slower printers take about 1.3 to 1.5 times longer; filament use stays about the same.
RESIN (MSLA)
Also printable: use your usual supports and tilt, and hollow the model in your slicer to save resin.
10 ft: plate 128 x 81 mm (e.g. Prusa SL1S), about 2 h 00 min, about 29 ml
20 ft: plate 128 x 81 mm (e.g. Prusa SL1S), about 2 h 00 min, about 59 ml
40 ft: plate 220 x 130 mm (large resin printer), about 2 h 00 min, about 120 ml
40 ft high cube: plate 220 x 130 mm (large resin printer), about 2 h 10 min, about 133 ml
45 ft high cube: plate 220 x 130 mm (large resin printer), about 2 h 10 min, about 150 ml
Approximate, on Prusa's standard SL1S profile, 0.05 mm layers, automatic supports; resin = solid model plus supports (less when hollowed). Resin time depends on the height, so several models on one plate take about the same time.
USE
Scale model for display, not a toy. Paint as you like.
