The model of the torpedo launcher has been made based on found blueprints and photographs, at a scale of 1:200. It is fully ready for printing.Attention: Not all printers may be able to handle this print at home. I’m printing it using an MJM (MultiJet Modeling) printer with wax support. The tube thickness is 0.1 mm, and the wall thickness of the launch tube is also 0.1 mm. However, modern home printers are now often capable of working with this level of detail.
The Japanese heavy cruiser Tone (of the Tone class) was equipped with four triple 610 mm torpedo tubes (Type 92).
Main characteristics of the torpedo launchers:
• Type: Rotating, triple-barreled
• Number: 4 launchers (two on each side)
• Caliber: 610 mm
• Torpedoes: Type 93 (“Long Lance”) with an oxygen-fueled engine
• Location: On the deck, in the midship section
The Type 93 torpedoes were considered among the most powerful in the world during World War II, as they used pure oxygen as an oxidizer, giving them a range of up to 40 km and a speed of up to 49 knots.
