DESCRIPTION

The Sword of Omens is the mystic weapon, embedded with the sacred gem of the Thundercats, the Eye of Thundera. While several iterations of this sword have been made over the years, I chose to create one capturing the look and feel of the one depicted in the 80s animated series, while giving it a more appealing contours. In addition, I chose to make the design modular. This makes it easier to print its various detailed components, reducing print artifacts in prominent areas, while allowing for parts to be printed for better strength. Printing separate parts also allows parts to be printed using a variety of colors and material types. The updated DO version 2 is similar to version 1, but assembly requires glues for some parts and should not be mixed with parts from version 1. Version 2 has more realistic scale by default.

*The dagger is designed for custom printing **and easy assembly. *

This is a very nice rendition of the dagger form of the Sword of Omens. The details and dimensions are very true to the original design. Unfortunately, there are some issues with the models themselves. The first being that the quality of the STLs are quite low and contain a lot of faceting. This will likely result in the print not being smooth, especially if being resin printed. Second, there seem to be issues with some of the files having internal gaps and structures. This could be from the parts not being fully boolean / watertight on creation. When attempting to print them in resin, the slicer may throw an error as it will detect internal cavities that will trap liquid. Due to the nature of the design, some of the parts may be difficult to print without major supports (dagger / sword handles often have this issue). Overall it is a great design and interpretation of the original prop. Unfortunately for me, I will have to recreate most of the parts to improve the print fidelity. But, great offering.
