This device is to hang 35mm film as well as to be a weight to attach to the end of a strip 35mm film while it dries after developing and fixing.
Yes, it is a job that can be easily done with a clothespin.
However, if you are washing an already processed and cut negative strip, you can’t attach a clothespin as you normally would because the clothespin will attach on the image area. This hanger/weight attaches to the film strip by the sprocket holes without touching the negative image area.
I also have included a hanger with the hook at 90 degrees and a double hook in opposite directions to prevent the hanger from accidently popping off the clothesline.
Also, it’s easier to print this than a clothespin. And who knows maybe there are people out there that are san clothespins.
