This is a mail coif printed in PLA, built with a radial expanded pattern instead of the more common triangle panel layout. The radial gore pattern uses curved wedge pieces that expand out from the crown of the head, so you get a smoother, more rounded shape with way fewer visible seams than the triangle version, which tends to look sectioned and blocky. If you've printed chainmail before you know how much the seam layout affects the final look, and this one drapes a lot more naturally once assembled.
Good fit for medieval knight builds, viking cosplay, LARP kits, renaissance faire gear, or just as a display piece next to a helmet. Works well under a helm or worn on its own over a hood.
On machines with a print bed over 27cm it prints in 2 pieces, and I included a 3-piece version for smaller printer beds too. Don't scale the files up or down, the mail links are sized to interlock correctly and scaling will cause print failures or rings that won't close. No supports or brim needed. It does need assembly after printing, and the rings are left open on purpose so you can link them together by hand, then close them up with something like a heat soldering iron for a cleaner, more secure joint.
Printing Settings:
Ensure your printer is well-calibrated and the bed is leveled for optimal results. Maintain bed adhesion by keeping the bed clean and free of grease. Use isopropyl alcohol for cleaning and apply adhesive if necessary.
