The Story Behind the Art This digital sculpture creates a modern allegory of the Myth of Sisyphus, reimagined through the lens of motherhood and the crushing weight of modern life. It depicts a mother straining to push the heavy globe uphill—representing career, society, and expectations—while tragically failing to notice her child reaching out from behind.
The piece is rich with symbolism. The base is detailed with alchemical symbols, the Eye of Providence, and Albrecht Dürer’s Magic Square, representing the complex, ordered, yet heavy systems of the world she is trying to navigate. The Owl of Athena watches stoically from the pillar, representing wisdom or perhaps the silent judgment of society.
