Description

The Niña, officially named Santa Clara, was one of the three ships that sailed with Christopher Columbus in 1492. It was a caravel, about 50-70 feet long, known for its speed and maneuverability. Unlike the Santa María, which sank, the Niña successfully returned to Spain and became Columbus’ favorite ship. It participated in at least two more voyages to the New World. The last recorded mention of the Niña was in 1501, but its final fate remains unknown.
