Name: Cordaites Principalis

Period: Late Carboniferous to the Permian. 323 to 299 million years ago.

Notes: Extinct plant from the late Carboniferous to the Permian Period. Fossil specimens have been found in both drier hinterland regions as well as floodplains and swampy ground. It was more common in brackish, swamp areas, but it is notable for being able to colonise drier regions, a feature absent from many plants of this era. This seed plant had leathery, strap-shaped leaves and is thought to be closely related to conifers (at one time it was thought to be the ancestor of modern conifers, but this is no longer considered the case). Those that grew in swampy areas had a more extended stilt-root system than those that grew in drier areas. Fossils have been found mainly in Europe and Asia, but a more extensive range is evident.

  9. Dying -- 64,122 polygons, 85,599 vertices, 21.96m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  10. Dead -- 40,964 polygons, 50,442 vertices, 27.73m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  11. Ancient -- 125,091 polygons, 189,229 vertices, 30.45m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  12. Young -- 44,437 polygons, 67,487 vertices, 17.37m tall. Smaller plant, fully mature but still growing.
  13. Growing -- 25,893 polygons, 45,340 vertices, 12.25m tall. Plant not yet mature, some half way through its growing cycle.
  14. Immature -- 13,692 polygons, 25,298 vertices, 5.09m tall. Very small and young plant.
  15. Forming -- 5,457 polygons, 10,095 vertices, 1.81m tall. Extremely young and small but taking on its adult shape.
  16. Sapling -- 488 polygons, 855 vertices, 1m tall. Recently sprouted.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096).
