Notes: As the principle source of palm oil, this is a commercially critical species. It is also one of the most environmentally destructive due to widespread cultivation where vast tracts of natural land are often deforested to make way for plantations. Native to west and southwest Africa, but commercially cultivate throughout the tropics. In it's natural range it can be found growing in many soil types and locations short of desert and sub-desert conditions.

  11. Ancient -- 194,925 polygons, 287,499 vertices, 20.07m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  12. Young -- 130,483 polygons, 194,766 vertices, 12.33m tall. Smaller plant, fully mature but still growing.
  13. Growing -- 21,801 polygons, 44,152 vertices, 8.7m tall. Plant not yet mature, some half way through its growing cycle.
  14. Immature -- 6,493 polygons, 15,361 vertices, 3.41m tall. Very small and young plant.
  15. Forming -- 4,034 polygons, 12,266 vertices, 1.99m tall. Extremely young and small but taking on its adult shape.
  16. Sapling -- 5,696 polygons, 15,144 vertices, 1.55m tall. Recently sprouted.
