DESCRIPTION

This Chesterfield Sofa is leather vintage patina brownThe capitonnè of the Chesterfield sofa is the most typical decoration of this piece of furniture which is rightly considered the oldest in the world. The first creations of the Chesterfield sofa, in fact, date back to the sixteenth century: in the United Kingdom the artisans of Chesterfield, a small county of Derbyshire, chose to produce this elegant and precious piece of furniture to propose it to the wealthiest families, and immediately recorded a great success. In the following epochs, the Chesterfield sofa was not long in spreading also in the homes of the less well-off families. From an aesthetic and structural point of view, there is no doubt, it is a piece of furniture of the highest quality, but its main peculiarity is represented precisely by the capitonnè, valuable craftsmanship that makes the Chester sofa truly unmistakable. Precisely, the capitonnè concerns the lining of the furniture or the leather used for the upholstery. Thanks to a fine artisan intervention, a series of small buttons are applied in-depth, in an equidistant way, as if to recreate a series of rhomboid figures.
