Chengdu, abbreviated as Rong and also known as Rongcheng or Jincheng, is a prefecture level city, provincial capital, sub provincial city, mega city, and core city of the Chengdu metropolitan area in Sichuan Province. Tianfu Square covers an area of 88000 square meters, with a rectangular shape and a length to width ratio of approximately 1.5:1. The ground is paved with light colored granite slabs. To the north of Tianfu Square is the statue of Mao Zedong, which reaches a height of 30 meters. The square is divided into two main parts, the East Square and the West Square, separated by the curve in the middle of the Taiji cloud map on the square. The East Square is a sunken square, while the West Square mainly features a fountain landscape.
