DESCRIPTION

1/900th scale E13A Jake Reconnaissance Floatplane model. Certain elements not to scale.

The Aichi E13A (“Jake” to the Allies) was a Japanese long-range reconnaissance floatplane built from 1940–1945, with 1,418 aircraft produced, making it the most numerous floatplane used by the Imperial Japanese Navy. They operated from battleships, cruisers, seaplane tenders, and shore bases across many theaters. Standard armament was light, typically a single flexible rear 7.7 mm machine gun and up to 250 kg of bombs or depth charges, though later variants added radar, night-fighting equipment, or even two downward-firing 20 mm cannons for anti-shipping use. It served in scouting, anti-submarine patrol, rescue, transport, and even late-war kamikaze roles.

This model is designed and tested at 1/900th scale, but up-scaling and down-scaling are possible. Since the model is optimized for 1/900th scale, it is not ideal to print larger versions due to a lack of detail. The model has been enlarged along the z axis to allow for better printing and accentuation of detail. The model has also been given thicker elements for strength. The wingspan and overall length are to scale.

Available are both individual and squadron files. You can find the stand at https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-print-models/miniatures/vehicles/stand-for-miniature-aircraft.
