Custom job offer failed

Discussion started by taljo

So, me and a certain cgtrader user created a custom job. He wanted multiple models done and i've provided. But i've made a terible mistake, as it seems.
I've sent him models so he can check them out and says if there is anything needed to be corrected before we conclude the deal. Oh boy, i guess i trusted the wrong person... He did thank me for the models, but then conversation went silent and he didn't conclude the job - it's been 10 days now. As a result, he has the product and im not getting paid.
Now, i dont expect cgtrader staff can help me on this one in any way. It was my mistake after all. Im just making this thread to draw attention to this type of problem other designers may run into. If client eventually want to see the models instead of a preview pictures and renders, be sure you make him conclude the job first cause the conversation isnt locked afterwards and you can still communicate and attach files even after getting paid.

Do contact CGTrader and they will get in contact with the client. A guy did that to me for a small $10 job and i let it go but there was one where the client pre paid the job and went silent after i sent the complete work. A month later i contacted CGT and they got me my money :). May I ask what job this was? I apply for a lot of them on here and am curious to see which one it was. Hope it all works out well for you

Client wanted some models i have offered on sale here on cgtrader, but with some modifications. So he opened personal job offer. I didnt know jobs are actually pre-paid as i didnt try being a customer here :) Thank you for your insight. Appreciated!

When customer has created job, did you applied to it and did customer selected you for the job? If so, then you have nothing to affraid of. When contractor selects designer for the job, it must prepaid all negotiated money into cgtrader's account and that money is locked untill job is done. If customer went silent after you send your final files, just contact cgtrader support staff as jmjwall14 suggested and they should try to reach your customer. If they can't reach him and you'll have evidence that files was sent to him, cgtrader should mark the job as done and eventually you should be paid. But if you have started work and send files to customer without being selected for the job, then you should blame only yourself. And it should be a good lesson for you - never ever start working without signing a contract.

I havent realised there is a pre-paid system. Then my client probably went silent thinking he already payed and job is closed automatically...now i feel ashamed, cause he seems a bit more inocent now :D Thank you for explaining this to me!

Hi there,

We reviewed your message and the job - and marked it as complete. You should receive the job payout when next month's payouts are made.

Cheers,
Eddie, CGTrader
