.mtl file loads as random colors instead of the correct ones

Discussion started by o-w-a-place

I downloaded the Skai News Studio .obj file along with the .mtl file but when I import it to blender or other apps the materials appear as just random bright colors instead of the ones that should be in the model. If I load the .obj without the .mtl it show gray as it should be, but the .mtl is not as shown in the download page (here is the link so you can check https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/interior/office/skai-news-studio). I have tried with different models with different .mtl files and they also load with random bright colors. Why is this happening? how do I fix it so the materials don't show as random colors.

Edit: I tried to insert a screenshot of the problem but it just won't upload to this post. I don't know why.

Just some things to try : Not talking about specific model, but obj in general. Mtl file is a text file (you can open it in text editor) it just tels 3d program that obj file is associated with some texture file (.jpg .png or whatever) obj, mtl and the texture file (.jpg, .png etc.) Has to be in a same folder. If that doesnt help you can make a material in blender, apply it to object (obj) and add texture file to the color (diffuse, albedo) node of material. And make sure blenders viewport is set to display textures.
