Thumbnails order messed up

Discussion started by LemonadeCG

Usually, when upload new model and several preview images, site shows thumbnail of the first image without a problem. But when i edit existing model by adding additional preview images, or removing some, bad things starts to happen - cgtrader completely messes thumbnails and shows them in rather random fashion. That is very frustrating as usually it picks not a very representative images for displaying as thumbnails, like wireframe screenshots.

Could it be fixed, please?

The only way I was able to fix that was by uploading the primary preview first and then the rest, but even this tactic did not help me when I was trying to edit a product the last time. Had to republish as new model.

I have requested that the upload system would be fixed by forcing the image upload by name instead of randomly so that the images would be in proper order after upload - no need to rearrange. This was 3-4 years ago an nothing has been done about it (including the product edit issues).

At this point I can't even access the editing page on some models as I get 404 error. Reported it a week ago and still not fixed.

Sad to hear it... Republish is hardly an option for one who wants to maintain support for already sold models. Maybe if more people start to complaint about this, it would speed up bug fixing process...

I've sent 2 mails to CGTrader about this. Responses were not helpfull at all: "I would recommend you to removed the wireframe image and system will pick up next image as a thumbnail."

We just want the first image in the series to show as featured. Come on!

Hey guys,

Thank you for this notification! I'm sorry about the 3-4 years Ricardas, I'll get this issue on our board and hopefully we can fix this without too much of a delay. Thank you for reporting!

Hello guys,

Can you tell us which of your models had this problem? We're seeing that not every model has this editing issue.

Hi Eduardas, from my observations, models that has been published and then edited afterwards (particulary in "files and previews" section) almost always have problems with thumbnail order. Models that was published and never edited or had edits only in "details" section, usually displays correctly. Here's couple of my models that has issue with thumbnail order: https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/miniatures/vehicles/bmw-e26-m1 https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/miniatures/vehicles/bmw-e60 There are more of those. Hope you'll be able to fix it, as it really drives me mad.

And there's other issue: in some forum posts my name displays as LemonadeCG and in others as limonadinis - total nonsense. I feel like i have dual personality :]

It looks like it is because you have edited your user name as your designer link leads to "limonadinis". And as I see it only refers to Limonadinis if you write a reply. I'll see if we can do about it as well.

Hey guys,

The thumbnail order should now be intact. Try it out and let me know if there are any issues.

Hi, It's a very old post, but when I upload my model instead of an image, it shows a video preview first, which is why the thumbnail is not even visible :(

I resolved the issue by uploading images at the end. If you paste a video link, it will display the video instead of images. However, the problem is that the video doesn't appear as a thumbnail so it's best to upload images at the end.
