Using CT scanning to reverse engineer internal features.

Discussion started by vavxhi

Folks, has anyone here had experience with industrial CT scanners?

The reason I ask is because I work with a CT scanner ( 3D x-ray scanner) and I have clients that approach me to scan their parts and reverse engineer them (internal features included) to create new CAD models. I'm wondering how popular CT scanning is outside the world of OEM's?

What kind of 3D scanners do you usually use?

I only use Photogrammetry (like the cheap little brother), to make my scans... some of them are just for hobby purposes and some are sold.

How do you plan to do the interior of the model if you just can see the outside? just wondering ^^
