Question about legal license from a potential buyer.

Discussion started by chamferzone

Hey everyone, so I got someone asking me his question here: "What is the actual legal license for this? CC-BY-SA? CC-0? It is unusable for any serious project without a proper legal statement from the author." I'd have no clue about the exact definition to be honest.I figured maybe some of you ran into this before? What's the norm here. Basically me as someone with no lawyer background can only say: You can use it in your games, you can share it with other people working with you on your games, you can't sell it on in other asset stores. But I doubt that he would be pleased with just that as a consent.

Any help or clue would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Tim

I'm not a lawyer nor i have deep understanding about licencing, but i can say that CC-BY-SA and CC-0 are very different licenses. You can read in-depth about each one here: https://creativecommons.org/

Hi chamferzone, as Limonadinis mentioned, the license applied is General License, which says that the customers cannot resell the model in its original form elsewhere, but can use it in their commercial projects and resell products that incorporate the model (movies, ads, games, etc). Please let us know if you need any further help.

Thanks a lot for your help everyone. I really appreciate it. Still only a week in to selling 3D assets and I suppose I haven't really investigated that properly before. Good to know! :)
