You should do some light reading on the copyright laws when you get a chance there's plenty of information about it. A simple way of looking at it is:
a) if the object is well known, a brand, has a logo etc then put an editorial license.
b) if its an original creation by you then its royalty free.

editorial licenses in most cases not affect sales but may be withdrawn by the copyright owner now or in the future, its a gamble since you don't own the IP.

not sure if you understood a). star wars is a well known brand. its also owned by disney. disney are well known for protecting their copyright. editorial.

Also, if you are looking for copyright laws per brand (star wars for example) this doesn't exist. Copyright is an international law - like I said, if you are making something that isn't from your imagination then its editorial. There is some exceptions to this such as public domain etc, which is why I suggest you do some light reading.

You could create your own light saber - style with a different looking grip (maybe one which mixes two or more lasers or uses a prism to refract the light into another direction) and name it "light sword". Bet you'd be fine then without bothering about copyright ;).
