We're starting the Autumn with renewed interview questions and the first one to give us a breath of fresh air is Evgeniia Popova. Our only wish would be to have had this talk in some Old town in Europe...

Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got into the 3D industry?

I came to the 3D industry from the architecture - I had to make electronic submission of projects at the undergraduate course. Then I met with such programs as AutoCad, 3ds Max, Photoshop, Revit, SketchUp and many others. But 3ds Max became my favorite.

What are the most important characteristics to become a recognized artist according to you?

I think, to get the recognition in the area of 3D modeling, it is important to:

  • Create actual things
  • Make photo-realistic models
  • Optimize all composes of the model.

The novelty factor and exclusivity is also important.

What research methods do you have?
Firstly, it is necessary to choose the subject of the simulation, I usually look through different magazines of interior design, wedding magazines - I try to find something interesting and vice versa to come up with what would complement the existing picture.

Then, before I start, I think over a grid pattern, especially if it is something complicated. I often draw sketches on paper. The optimized mesh model is a measure of the quality and professionalism of the master.

What tool would you consider indispensable for your work?

I consider that in order to work in the 3D industry the most important things are the brain works and sense of style. Software is important, but it is only a means of achieving the goal. Without volume thinking and artistic vision, you would never get excellent photo-realistic models.

How would you best describe your projects in three words?

Photo-realistic, Bright, Stylish.

What/who are your influences in life?

Difficult question, maybe the modern culture has some influence on me, it cannot live torn from its time. Respectively, I form my values and goals starting from upbringing and surroundings. Perhaps the desire to live better influences all my actions.

How do you take a break from work? What are your hobbies?

I cannot say that I have a hobby. But I have attitudes that adhere. I formulated this life span to improve myself. I believe that a man should always learn and develop something. That stands in the various spheres of life: work, personal life, the spiritual component, care of the body, etc. I exercise regularly, it is very important to break away from sedentary life style. I love to read classic literature and non-fiction articles. I also like playing chess, traveling, meeting friends and talking to people. Changing the type of activity is the best way to relax.

Are there any future projects you can tell us about?

I have a couple of ideas for the near future - I always wanted to learn how to do knitted things and objects with realistic fur. I'm also thinking about making a few non-trivial bouquets for interiors in the Scandinavian style.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

After 5 years, I would like to live in the old town in Europe, drinking coffee with croissant in the morning and work in the coolest company in the world!
