Modular Cigarette Case

A compact 3D printable cigarette carry case designed to keep your cigarettes/joints protected and organized in your pocket. The case features a modular internal layout with multiple configurations depending on what you want to carry.

The system supports different setups for cigarettes, lighters, rolling papers, and filter tips, allowing you to choose the version that best fits your daily carry. It can fit a BIC Maxi (normal size) or a regular Clipper.

Additionally, the top half of the case is rounded on the inside, and can be used as a small tray to mix tobacco or herbs and help with rolling.

Designed for standard size cigarettes (84mm) — not compatible with 100s or king size rolled cigarettes.

Available Configurations

This model pack includes several configurations depending on your needs. Each version is optimized for either Clipper or BIC lighters where applicable.

Printing & AssemblyThe models are designed to be simple to print and assemble. The following recommendations are suggested settings that worked well during testing, but feel free to adjust them based on your printer and preferences.

MaterialsBoth PLA and PETG work well for this model.

PLA prints easily and performs perfectly fine for normal use. Matte PLA will look the best.PETG offers better durability and resistance to heat and sunlight, making it a good option if the case will be exposed to outdoor conditions.

Note that 3D printed parts are not fully waterproof. Avoid prolonged contact with water, as moisture may seep through the print and potentially damage the contents stored inside.**Print Settings**Recommended baseline settings:

  • Supports: Not required
  • Minimum infill: 17.5%
  • Wall loops / perimeters: 3

To improve durability of the hinge and latch mechanism:

  • Minimum sparse infill threshold: 12 mm² (Small sparse infill regions below this threshold are replaced with solid infill. This helps ensure the hinge and locking areas print solid and reduces the risk of breakage.)

AssemblyThe case uses a simple filament hinge pin and requires no additional hardware. Before assembly, remove the pre-built supports on the snap joints by carefully cutting them off using pliers or flush cutters.

Step 1 — Prepare the hinge pinCut a piece of standard 1.75 mm filament and insert it through the hinge holes, aligning both halves of the case. This piece of filament acts as the hinge pin.

Step 2 — Position the pinCenter the filament so that about 3-4 mm extends from each side of the case.

Step 3 — Lock the hingeCarefully heat one exposed end of the filament using a lighter or small flame until the tip begins to soften.Once softened, gently press the filament against the hinge using a flat metal surface. This will flatten the filament end and create a small cap that prevents the pin from sliding out.

Step 4 — Repeat on the other sideRepeat the same process on the opposite end to secure the hinge pin in place. Once both ends are flattened, the hinge will be permanently secured.

An optional logo inlay file is included for the engraved Layer Lab logo on the case body. You can print this small insert in a different color filament and glue it into the recess for added visual contrast. A small amount of super glue or contact adhesive works well to secure the pieces. For an extra touch, you can match the inlay colour with the filament hinge pin for a coordinated accent :)
