Oviraptor (from the Latin egg thief) is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period. The first remains were collected from the Djadokhta Formation of Mongolia in 1923 during a paleontological expedition led by Roy Chapman Andrews.

Considerations

This work is part of a collection of models based on the artwork of Brasílio Matsumoto, a Brazilian artist who illustrated the Chocolate Surprise Album, Dinosaurs, in 1993. To our current knowledge, the material is not scientifically accurate, as it is a work that is over 30 years old! But some of the artwork is impressively current. Even the artwork that hasn't aged so well maintains a unique artistic beauty! The animals seem to breathe, move, socialize, explore that world. They seem alive!I had this album as a child and even bought it for my daughter as an adult. But I had lost mine, and recently I discovered a digital archive with the Album! I decided to create the 3D models for myself and for use with my students in my classes (I teach 9/10 year old children). But the material turned out so well that I decided to make it public! I printed some models on an FDM printer; I don't have a resin printer, but I'm sure they would look beautiful in this material and painted! The files are in OBJ (ready for printing) and GLB for use in augmented reality.I have no contact with the artist of the original images. But I commit to equally sharing the royalties from any sale.
