DESCRIPTION

The Bristol Scout D made its appearance over the Western Front in 1916, and was the most produced variant of the aircraft. Though it was soon superceded by more capable aircraft, the Scout served a useful purpose early in the war and the C variant was made famous by the RFC's Lanoe Hawker, who in 1915 mounted an oblique firing Lewis gun to the port side and use it to down three aircraft, fortunately all enemy, in one day. Such a feat that early in the war resulted in Hawker getting a Victoria Cross and command of his own squadron. To make a C variant, simply snip off the top wing mounted Lewis gun, or remove it in your slicer prior to printing.
