HISTORICAL NOTE: The Marquês de Olinda Steam was a Brazilian ship captured by the Paraguayan Fleet and used by Paraguay in the War of the Triple Alliance (Paraguayan War).

He was captured by the Paraguayan government on November 12, 1864, while climbing the Paraguay River carrying the Cel. Frederico Carneiro de Campos, then president assigned to the province of Mato Grosso and who was heading to take up his post. This fact, the capture of Fort Novo de Coimbra and the Paraguayan invasion of Mato Grosso a month later, were considered acts of war by the Brazilian Empire and contributed to trigger the Paraguayan War.
