DESCRIPTION

The Douglas A-26 Invader is one of the most versatile and durable twin-engine light bombers in the history of American military aviation. Designed to succeed the Douglas A-20 Havoc at the end of World War II, it combined firepower, high speed and modularity of load, forming part of a new generation of aircraft capable of operating effectively at low and medium altitudes, day and night. Although its participation in World War II was relatively limited in time, it enjoyed exceptional longevity, being engaged in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, and remaining in operational service until the early 1970s, and even beyond in certain specialized roles.
