Unlike the males of her species, who are largely driven by a simple, brutal lust for battle, Gamorrean females run the society, control the property, and dictate clan politics. Marakga was known for her shrewd negotiating skills and an iron fist that kept rival warlords in line. Her life changed when her clan was betrayed during a planetary resource feud. Rather than face execution or forced integration into an enemy clan, Marakga orchestrated a daring escape, smuggling herself off-world on a Black Sun cargo frigate. An exile with nothing but her cunning and her physical strength, Marakga eventually found herself on Tatooine. She knew that Jabba the Hutt employed dozens of dim-witted Gamorrean males as guards (like the infamous Thok and Gartogg). Recognizing a massive leadership vacuum, she marched directly into the palace and demanded an audience. Jabba was amused by her audacity. While he usually viewed Gamorreans as expendable muscle, he quickly realized Marakga possessed a rare trait for her kind: a sharp, calculating mind. Instead of placing her on the front lines to be eaten by a Rancor, Jabba positioned her in the lower courts and the bustling palace annexes.
