Hooded Swan aka Interstellar Queen 1:700 and 1:350 scales3D printable model, resin printer recommended.
November 23, 2025 Update
This model is inspired by Angus McKie’s iconic cover art for Halcyon Drift, the first novel in Brian Stableford’s Hooded Swan series. You may also recognize the design as the Interstellar Queen, featured in the classic Terran Trade Authority book Spacecraft 2000–2100 A.D.
I’ve aimed to create a faithful 3D adaptation of McKie’s original painting, carefully translating the visible design into a 3D printable format. For sections of the ship not shown in the artwork, I’ve drawn inspiration from the description of the vessel in Halcyon Drift, blending my own interpretations with the source material to fill in the gaps.
The model is optimized to print in two scales, 1:700 and 1:350 (49 cm long, or over 19 in). The 1:700 comes in 2 versions, flight mode and landed mode. The flight mode comes with a display stand and shuttle, and the landed mode includes landing gear, detailed hangar interior and landed shuttle with open entry doors. The 1:350 version has all the parts to build flight mode or landed mode. The 1:350 version also includes STLs of all the parts pre-supported and pre-plated, giving you the option of printing them quickly or setting up the supports yourself. They are copies of my last successful test print, and may or may not work on your particular printer and resin.
A decal sheet from JBOT Decals will be coming in the future. Watch out for updates.
Let me know if there are any glaring problems. As always, I welcome your feedback and suggestions for revisions or improvements. This model will be updated to reflect refinements and enhancements.
