Abyssauris is a fictional alien plant designed for a scientific botanical contest focused on speculative flora. It acts like a carnivorous organism, using its spiral shape to trap microscopic life forms in the air. The inner chamber looks like a bottomless eye, which inspired the name Abyssauris (abyss + sauris, suggesting something ancient and predatory).
The plant reacts to vibration and air flow, slowly opening or closing like a living creature. It is inspired by deep sea organisms and ancient reptile-like biology, but reimagined as a plant species from another world.
The 3D model was created with printing in mind:
- solid and clean geometry
- suitable for SLA and FDM printers
- high detail without unnecessary complexity
- strong shapes that print well and look great painted
Abyssauris combines science fiction, biology, and art, making it a strong entry for any 3D printing or speculative design challenge.
